Cumberland County woodlot owners are reminded that the 2009 Central Woodland Owners Conference will take place on Saturday, April 4th at Musquodoboit Valley Education Centre in Middle Musquodoboit. This annual, full day conference is a chance to hear experts and other woodland owners talk about woodland issues and resources that can help you manage your land sustainably. Whether you want to harvest timber, provide wildlife habitat, explore non-timber forest uses or just keep your forest healthy this conference is for you. It is an excellent opportunity to network with other owners, to hear expert speakers, and to view a number of exhibits.

The conference is a joint initiative of Nova Scotia Natural Resources, Nova Scotia Economic and Rural Development, Nova Scotia Primary Forest Products Marketing Board, Nova Forest Alliance, and central region RDAs including CREDA.

E-Marketing your organization in the 21st century, a workshop designed specifically for volunteer groups, will be held on Monday, March 23rd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tantramar Theatre, 98 Victoria Street, Amherst.
Topics will include an overview of new technology, using technology to communicate and promote your organization, and gaining support for fundraising activities on the internet. Sponsored by CREDA, the Municipality of the County of Cumberland and Nova Scotia Economic and Rural Development, this workshop will be facilitated by Gordon Cameron.
Volunteer groups and organizations are asked to pre-register for this free workshop and luncheon no later than March 18th by calling 667-3638.
