About the Museum
Amherst Township Historical Society
Our Mission
Cumberland County Museum and Archives collects, preserves, interprets and promotes the material and documentary past of Cumberland County for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations.

Cumberland County Museum and Archives was established by The Amherst Township Historical Society in 1981. The Society continues to govern the Museum and Archives, to collect, preserve, interpret and promote Cumberland County's past.

The Society was incorporated as a registered charitable organization in 1973 and operates the Museum with the assistance of the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism and Culture.

You can become a member for just $15.00 per year. Your Membership benefits include:
  • A subscription to the "Cumberland Reflector" newsletter published three times a year.
  • Free admission to the Museum.
  • Personal invitation to all exhibit openings.
  • Personal contact (if you are not long distance) informing you of museum events, programs, speakers, field trips and workshops.

We are a charitable organization and can provide tax receipts for donations, upon request.
